Jackson's Baseball Birthday Party

Can you believe that Mr. Jackson is turning 7? I know I'm in complete denial, but that didn't stop us from planning his 7th baseball birthday extravaganza! There's certainly some disadvantages to having a summer birthday, but Jackson fully embraced his June birthday this year with a baseball party! The Brazos Valley Bombers are our local collegiate summer baseball team and we discovered that they host birthday parties! Perfect!

For a summer birthday when lots of families are traveling, Jackson had a great showing with about a dozen of his friends from school, church and Cub Scouts! We managed to wrangle most of his guests for a group picture with Kaboom!

Jackson and his guests enjoyed pizza, cookie cake and all the pre-game festivities.

And guess who got to throw out the first pitch?! He was nervous but he did great!

He had an awesome fan club to cheer him on!

Jackson returned from the pitcher's mound with a souvenir baseball autographed by all of the Bombers. Baby brother Benjamin saw the ball and wanted it...badly. Thankfully we were able to appease him by breaking into the party favors so he could have a ball of his own...

He didn't put it down for the rest of the night!

Jackson was excited about watching the Bombers game with all of his friends, but I think it was the promise of the all-access pass for the inflatables that really sold him on the party idea! When the party-goers grew restless in the stands, they were able to get out all of their energy on the obstacle course, giant slide and hitting a few balls.

Lots of fun was had in the stands too though! They cheered for the Bombers, heckled the opposing team, ate ice cream, and sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame.

Somewhere in all of that, mom was able to sneak in a hug with the birthday boy! Oh, how I love this big kid!

The game ended at nearly 10:30 so it was a late night by 7 year old standards, but a few friends hung in until the end! Post game they lined up to run the bases! Jackson slid into home plate. =)

The night ended with a great fireworks show, which was a perfectly appropriate way to cap off the celebration of this awesome kid who has been lighting up our lives for the last seven years!
