Days of Christmas 7-9 (Cards for Teachers, Snow and Bethlehem)

Wednesday, December 07, 2016
Happy 7th day of Christmas Malnar boys! Santa will be here in just 18 days! Christmas is a time to thank those who help us all year long. Let’s get out the paints and make Christmas Cards to give to your teachers at school.

We are still working on the cards. As it turns out, 23 teacher cards is a lot. Yes, 23. This picture is just of Jackson and Andrew's cards drying. Benjamin's took several attempts to finish as he wasn't too cooperative! We are so grateful for the village that surrounds and loves our boys every day, but let's just say this isn't the most relaxing activity of the month! Our teachers are absolutely worth it though!

Happy 8th day of Christmas Malnar boys! Santa will be here in just 17 days! We live in Texas so unfortunately you are unlikely to see real snow this year. Here’s the next best thing—make some fake snow and have a snowball fight!

This one is absolutely a family favorite! Relatively equal parts cornstarch and shaving cream equals fluffy, moldable "snow".

First, huddle in your garage because a Texas cold front blew through and it's freezing outside! Ok, not literally freezing, but only about 7 degrees above freezing! The weather certainly added to our festive activity!

Next, dump in the cornstarch....

Add the shaving cream...

And mix well with your hands. Add less shaving cream than you think you need and then add a little bit at a time until it's the right consistency. Err on the side of not enough than too much, otherwise your snow is too sticky and just sticks to your hands.

Once your snow is made, make some snowballs!

Then run for your life!!!!

Now that the boys are bigger I need to at least double the recipe...6 boxes of cornstarch next year instead of 3!

Happy 9th day of Christmas Malnar boys! Santa will be here in just 16 days! Tonight, we will watch the Christmas story of Jesus come alive! Don't forget your coat and gloves, it might be chilly on the hayride!

Chilly indeed! That cold front continued and Ben got to model his cold weather apparel. How cute is he?!?

This is such a neat event hosted by one of the local churches. It's a narrated hayride telling the greatest love story ever told...Jesus! From Adam and Eve in the garden, to Bethlehem, the cross and finally the empty tomb. How deep the Father's love for us!

It was definitely chilly on the hayride but we warmed up with some cocoa and smores around the fire afterwards!

The big boys also enjoyed a story and a craft.
