Benjamin is 9 Months!

Precious Benjamin is 9 months and has now been on the outside longer than he was on the inside. Time is flying! He had absolutely no interest in his 9 month photo shoot, as you can tell from all these pictures of a very wiggly baby.

My blog post is a little late but his 9 month check-up was right on time. Here are his updated stats:
Weight: 21 lbs, 8 oz (80th%)
Height: 28.5 in (58th%)
Head Circ: 44.7 cm (41st%)

He's wearing 12 month and 18 month clothes and his next box of diapers will be size 4s. We are about to buy him his big boy car seat since his infant seat only goes to 22lbs.

All that growth is undoubtedly due to the fact that the boy eats everything! No baby food for this big guy, give him a hamburger (broken up into little pieces, of course)! It's hard to say what foods he likes best because he really does like everything, but he does seem to especially like beans. He eats them by the fistful. As a result of all that eating and because he would much rather be busy, he is cutting back on his bottles at school/nursing at home. He takes a sippy cup like a champ though so we've started putting his breastmilk in a cup along with his meal and that seems to work well to get a few more ounces in him.
Gimme that camera mom!
He's crawling everywhere quickly and cruising with ease. He can also walk with a push toy really well. He's not showing much interest in trying to stand independently though so maybe we've bought a little time in this whole walking thing. For now anyway!

The little ride-on toy above has a compartment in the seat where you can hide treasures. Ben put one of his toys inside and practiced opening and closing the compartment. Hours later after a nap, he came back to the toy and opened it up right away to retrieve the toy he had put there, showing us that he remembered he put his toy inside. Object permanence! Smart boy!

Mama is still his favorite person in the whole world. He's fine with other people if I'm out of his sight, but forget about holding him if I'm there. He's still not a great sleeper, still waking a couple of times throughout the night until I put him in our bed. I know he does this because I put him in our bed, but the working mom guilt makes it so hard not to sneak in some extra snuggles with him during the night. The working mom exhaustion might win this battle though because mama seriously needs an uninterrupted night's sleep...or ten and even when he's in our bed he has periods of restlessness that keep us awake. He's lucky he's cute!

He definitely agrees with the cuteness...mirrors are one of his favorite things! And look, he's finally getting some hair!

Other favorite hobbies include shredding and eating paper (he had me sweating at his doctor's appointment trying to fill out a form while keeping him from eating the paper exam table cover and/or toppling off of the exam table), finding the tiniest crumbs on the floor to shove in his mouth, pulling every single toy out of the cabinet, and banging toys loudly on the floor.

He has a feisty personality! When he's done with dinner, he is DONE and no one else will eat in peace once he is ready to be out of the high chair. We have quickly learned his distinct frustrated cry when a forbidden object has been placed out of his grasp. He lets us know quickly when he isn't getting his way! Similarly, he let me know when he was done with this photo shoot by dramatically yanking off the month sticker and eating it!
Photo shoot over, mom!
Yes, every day he's a little less of a baby and a little more big kid. I cannot wrap my head around how quickly these months are flying by. I've started pinning ideas for his first birthday which makes me want to cry, but I know it's going to be here in a blink!

Deep gene pool, here! These boys all look SO different!

Happy 9 months, sweet man! We love you so much!

#1 Dad

Since Father's Day this year was the same weekend as Jackson's birthday festivities, I decided that we would celebrate the weekend before so that we could give the #1 Dad in our life all the attention and celebration he deserved.

Daddy started his day with breakfast in bed. I'm not gonna brag or anything, but the boys and I made a pretty amazing breakfast of omelets and waffles.

Before Daddy could even eat his breakfast though, Jackson and Andrew couldn't wait to give him their gifts and cards they had made him. They were so proud!

Daddy snuggles are the best snuggles!

We enjoyed a little pool time. I'm pretty sure Andrew felt like he was on top of the world!

During dinner, Daddy celebrated with these tortilla-masked men.

We ended the weekend with snowcones at the park.

How lucky these three boys are to have such a wonderful daddy! Thank you, Justin for taking such good care of all of us.

Slip & Slide

Jackson got a slip & slide for his birthday and he couldn't wait to try it out. Following his birthday party, we set it up and all the kiddos gave it a go!

The only one that didn't like the slip & slide was the littlest. Poor Benjamin was not a fan!

Oh well, just give him a few years and he will be impatiently waiting his turn to take a slide!

Jackson's Lego Party

Jackson loves legos and was thrilled when I told him there was a Lego place in town where he could have his birthday party.

It was a milestone year in that for the first time we were inviting kids whose parents I had never met. I do love a printed invitation, but the school directory only provides email addresses so we made the best of it. Thank goodness for evite!

I had a blast putting this party together because it was such a fun, colorful theme!

The mini-figure cupcake toppers were a hit!

Assembling the party decorations meant Justin and I got to play with lots of legos!

And was there really any other option for party favors?

And let's just say that the birthday boy was excited to arrive at his party! Have you ever seen such an excited face?

But the faces quickly turned to focused. Building legos is serious work!

Seriously fun, that is! He had a blast building with all of his friends from every corner of his life.

Jackson especially loved racing his lego cars down the ramp! He quickly discovered that the key to winning was to have the longest car.

Happy 6th birthday, big kid! I hope all your dreams come true!

Happy Birthday Jackson!

We had such fun celebrating our 6 year old!

Jackson woke up early on his birthday, but mommy woke up even earlier and surprised him with birthday donuts for breakfast!

It's definitely going to be a good day when you start off with that much sugar!

His birthday fell on a Thursday so Justin and I had to work and he was off to his summer enrichment and day camp for the day.

But we were too excited to wait to give him his gift! A new scooter! He had just about outgrown his old one so it was time for an upgrade!

After school and work he chose Wings n More for his birthday dinner because he loves the pickle chips. And because it was his birthday, we let him check out the arcade.

He ended the day with some delightfully blue ice cream (and Andrew thoroughly enjoyed his chocowate ice cream too!)

Since Justin and I both couldn't get out of work on Thursday, we made the afternoon on Friday his special day with Mom and Dad. The last time we went to Adamson Lagoon he was so sad because he wasn't tall enough for the big slides. He's tall enough now but Andrew isn't so we've been avoiding going. So that made it the perfect activity for his special day!

We had the best day with this little fish!

And oh my, how easy just one kid is!

We must have gone down the big slides at least 20 times!

Jackson discovered a new challenge in the lily pad crossing. I was so proud of his tenacity. If he fell off, he immediately hopped back in line to try again. He got pretty good at it, and was definitely one of the littlest kids who was consistently successful!

We reluctantly left the lagoon with the promise of one more adventure! We picked up the little kids as Nana and Kyndra made it in to town. We grabbed some dinner and then Nana and I took all the kiddos to see Finding Dory in 3D. Such a good movie!

We weren't done celebrating yet though! Jackson's awesome lego party was coming up next!
