Friendship at the Oil Ranch

Jackson is having a great summer! He gets to go on a field trip with his class a few times per week to go swimming, to the movies, and other adventures. Last week, his class (The Friendship Class) took a field trip to the Oil Ranch in Hockley, TX and Justin got to take the day off from work to tag along.

They had a busy, very fun day. First up was a ride on a vintage train originally from Coney Island around the ranch where they saw lots of animals.

Next up was a tractor pulled covered wagon ride where they got a bit closer to some of the animals. The cows were quite happy to see the children who had feed pellets to share with their new bovine friends.

After splitting into two groups, Jackson's group first got to milk a cow named Daisy. As explained by Jackson "You just wrap your hand around the cow's udder and the milk shoots out!"

He even got to ride his first horse!

The whole gang got back together for lunch and then got to cool down with a swim and a few trips down the water slide.

Do you know how to get 15 4-5 year olds to sit still? Give them all a snowcone! Well, they were at least still for a few moments.

Their last activity before loading back into the vans were the hamster races.

What a great bunch of kids! After that busy day, I would have predicted that all the kids would have conked out for the drive home, but Jackson reports that was not the case for his van! (He did crash that night at bedtime though.)

And the summer fun is just beginning!
