Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving!

There was delicious food, lots of relaxing, but best of all, it was spent with these lovelies!

Preparation for all of that delicious food started the night before, including mom and Justin's teamwork effort to make the dressing!

On Thanksgiving morning, I had the bright idea to make these cute cinnamon roll turkeys I saw on Pinterest. We didn't have the little candy eyes or candy corn, so we thought it would be fine to sub in other candies for the same effect. Haha nailed it.
Thankfully the kids didn't seem to mind!

Andrew wasn't feeling the selfies, but he's cute anyway!

Waiting for Thanksgiving dinner is hard, but Pop had just the solution! A cardboard box mansion! Of course, waiting for Pop to complete the construction involved waiting too...

But it was worth the wait!

Finally it was time for lunch and this guy was ready for some turkey!

Clearly, he stuffed himself just like everyone else. This is pretty much what the whole house looked like right after lunch. =)

I would call that a successful Thanksgiving!

They'll Never Want to Come Home

As it was, our boys would rather be at the Cabin in the Woods than anywhere else. And then Pop got new toys. Now we don't stand a chance!

Andrew driving with such confidence yet lack of skill is both adorable and terrifying! He doesn't quite have the steering part down but he is great with the gas pedal.

Jackson on the other hand is quite the pro.

Although they have their own rides now, there is still bickering over who gets to ride on the big 4-wheeler.

Jackson's fall bucket list included getting to to jump in a leaf pile. We don't have too many leaves at our house but Pop didn't disappoint!

There were even new additions to the fort!

We also got to visit Papa John and Granny. The boys discovered that Papa does an amazingly accurate Donald Duck Impression. Oh you should have heard those giggles!

Mom and Dad either better get some new toys or learn some cartoon impressions or we will never get these boys home!

Pre-Thanksgiving Thankfulness

When we returned from Disney the house was still decorated for Halloween, so it feels like we had a super short "Thanksgiving Season" (although if the retailers had their way it would be non-existent anyway). Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so I am one of those adamant ones who won't put up a single Christmas decoration until the day after Thanksgiving (I did cave this year and listened to a little Christmas music before though). As such, we quickly put out our few Thanksgiving decorations immediately upon our arrival home and enjoyed them for a few weeks anyways.

The turkey pumpkin pokes were my new addition this year and I just love them!

We also crafted this Thankful pumpkin as a family--thanks Pinterest!

And in keeping with the November tradition we started last year, we wrote our daily blessings on leaves every evening. We truly have so much to be thankful for!

On Tuesday, Jackson and Andrew's school held their annual Thanksgiving feast and the two oldest classes gave little performances.

Jackson's class marched in and proudly filed onto the stage.

Jillian's class went first and they did great!

Jackson's class recited the "5 little pilgrims" poem and sang about how they're glad they're not a turkey on Thanksgiving Day.

Then each child got to say what they were thankful for. Jackson said he was thankful for Pop cooking turkeys for Thanksgiving! Me too, Jackson, me too!

And then Jackson and his little friend Zeyu got to say the blessing. He told me he got picked to say the blessing because he had done it so well at the Fall Festival last month. He is so humble, isn't he?

Andrew was so proud of his brother!

Love this little turkey!

We are also thankful that Nana got to come visit and spend some time with the boys for the past few days.

And now we are thankful for some relaxing time spent at the Cabin in the Woods. We will spend the rest of the day today cooking and baking to get ready for tomorrow's feast. We've already played outside a lot, put together a puzzle, napped and watched some cheesy hallmark movie channel Christmas movies. Yep, it's been a good day!

Oh Happy Day!

Before there was The Malnar Family, there was Camp Malnar. In 2008, I was honored to be selected as a namesake for Fish Camp, and not to brag or anything, but I pretty much had the best co-chairs ever. Morgan and Gwen are some of my favorite people of all time, and on Saturday, we got to see Morgan start her happily ever after. Oh happy day!

We were able to snap a reunion picture with the stunning bride, but only with the official photographer's camera. Gwen and I got a picture with our littles though!

Charlotte is pretty much the most precious thing ever! We tried so hard to get a picture of these three and these were the best we could do. If these are the keepers, you should see the outtakes!

Justin's cousin, Megan, is also friends with Morgan so we got to see her at the wedding as well and meet her precious little boy Eli. Jackson and Eli became fast friends.

As we were discussing the day later that evening, Jackson told me, "Mommy, I fell in friendship today." I said "What do you mean, buddy?" and he said "You know, I fell in love with Jillian. Today I fell in friendship with Eli." Melt my heart!

While Jackson made a new friend, Andrew rocked the selfie...

...demonstrated some sweet dance moves...
 ...and flirted with Charlotte.

I think he thinks weddings are pretty fun!

Congratulations to Morgan and Brett! We were so honored to be part of their special day!

Back to Life, Back to Reality

Returning from vacation and settling back in to normal life is always a little painful, but thankfully settling back in to normal life also has its perks.

First, it means reuniting with our besties! We had a little pajama dinner and movie night last Friday and these two were pretty pleased to get to spend some quality time together.

Little brother Alex was the self-decided chaperone!

At the end of Beauty and the Beast, Jackson showed Jilly a few of the dance moves he learned from Belle herself!

Settling back in to our normal routine also means running errands on the weekend and grabbing dinner out with a couple of sweet and silly little boys.

We were also happy to settle back in to watching football on Saturday.

Apparently we are all still a little tired though! More than once this week Jackson fell asleep in the car on the way home from school.

Hopefully we all start feeling like we are back to normal too!
