One Month until TWO!

In less than a month, Andrew will be blowing out two candles on his cake!

Andrew loves Gracie the cat so much. She was the only "prop" we tried that tricked him into sitting still and smiling. He won't go to bed at night without telling her goodnight and he gets so excited when she enters the room. As you can see, Gracie was less than thrilled to be part of the photo shoot, but she is exceedingly patient with him.

Andrew hit quite a few "big boy" milestones during his 23rd month. Earlier in the month, he realized that he could climb out of his crib with astounding ease. With an afternoon's notice, he found himself going to sleep the next time in his big boy bed, a transition he took absolutely in stride. Our bedtime routine changed only slightly and he generally stays in his bed after I put him down for the night. And about a week ago, we decided that it was time to give up the pacifier for good. The first night he cried at bedtime for about an hour and there were no more tears after that. Tonight he asked me "paci gone?" with a sad look on his face but moved on easily.

He really likes to read books now and loves to pick out his own selections before bedtime. Go to favorites currently are Curious George Goes Fishing, Little Owl's Night and Goodnight Moon--though he does allow us quite a bit of variety.

Andrew has also started asking to sit on the potty. To date, he has still not actually put anything in the potty but he sure likes to sit on it. I feel like this is one milestone that will be easier for Andrew, simply because he has Jackson's example to follow. This is one time I am grateful for his "monkey see, monkey do" mimicking of Jackson's actions.

Speaking of mimicking, Andrew has learned to say "Nana Nana Boo Boo" (his version of it is more like "na na boo boo") and particularly enjoys uttering this phrase as he scampers off with some item he has stolen from Jackson. He also learned "Gig 'Em Aggies!" I am working on securing video proof of both, but for now you'll have to trust me on the cuteness. =)

But the most definitive proof we can provide of his impending status as a two year old is Exhibit A below. Hell truly hath no fury like a toddler who does not get his way.

Tantrums aside, it's hard to believe that in less than a month we will be celebrating this guy's 2nd birthday! Happy 23 months precious Andrew!
