Going up!

Andrew doesn't let any obstacle stand in his way. He's 8 months old and on the verge of walking. This weekend, not to be left out of all the fun happening upstairs, he decided to conquer the stairs. Watch him go!

Impressive, to say the least. I guess we need to put a rush on getting those baby gates ordered and installed!

Post Party Family Celebration

After the Splish Splash Bash, all of our family members who were in town headed to Fuego for some dinner.

Delicious food was consumed and tortilla masks were created and modeled by all...

Andrew just enjoyed a little iced tea courtesy of Grammy...

And all of the kiddos enjoyed spending some time with Grammy and Pop.

After dinner, we headed back to the house so this guy could open some more presents.

But not before all of the kids decided to "hop on pop"!

Andrew wasn't totally sure about all of the chaos....

Jackson got some awesome presents from all of his family!

He was very excited about his knight dress up set. Upon pulling it out of the bag he said "Now let's go upstairs and slay some dragons!". Ha! This kid cracks me up!

Andrew may not have been the center of attention on this particular weekend but he got lots of lovin anyway!
Snuggle time with Aunt Melly

Kisses from Pop!

All of the cousins had so much fun playing together all weekend! We did a group bath for 5 kids at once on Saturday night which was fun and crazy and wildly efficient! I am loving our two story house because we could pretty much just send the kids upstairs and know that they were happy and safe with space to play and then the grown-ups could be downstairs where it was relatively peaceful! Jackson, Annabelle and Breelie enjoyed a slumber party on Friday and Saturday night in Jackson's room. He seems like such a big kid now!

We are so grateful for the love we share with our families every day of the year, but especially treasured when we are celebrating special occasions. We love throwing a big party with all of the decorations, details and activities, but it is the people we share them with that make these occasions so special!

Splishing and Splashing

The Splish Splash bash was a huge hit! We had a number of pools, sprinklers, slip and slide and water tables set up throughout the yard and the kids had a blast going from one area to the next.

My one major mistake on the party day was sending Jackson to the pool with his cousins earlier in the morning. I had thought it would be a good way for him to have fun, burn off some energy to ensure a good nap, and get him out of the house. I think though that by the time his party started he was a bit splashed out. He played happily for about 45 minutes but then decided he wanted to dry off and get dressed. I tried to reason with him that this was his SPLASH party and so he should stay outside and play in the water with his friends. He wasn't having any of it. It was almost time to do the cake and gifts anyway so he got his wish and we changed his clothes (later he insisted on getting back in his swimsuit and a little while later back into regular clothes but then he got mad when a friend splashed him when he was wearing regular clothes so he changed clothes. AGAIN. Sigh.)

I lured all of the children to the porch with popsicles and we all sang to the birthday boy.

He blew out his candles as if he has had 3 years to practice. =)

With the candles blown out and birthday wishes made, everyone enjoyed their cake...and popsicles!

And then presents were opened. Jackson's friends must know him well because he got LOTS of Toy Story presents as well as many other fun things!

Yes, a good time was had by all!

Thanks to all of our family who helped make the day a success and to everyone who came out to help us celebrate our big three year old! Happy birthday Jackson!!!

Splish Splash Jackson's 3rd Birthday Bash (Prep)

On Saturday we had a super fun party to celebrate our sweet three year old!

Being June, it is HOT here this time of year. After sweating through Jackson's second birthday party at the park last year, I vowed that this year's party would involve water in some way to keep all of the party guests cool. And so the party theme came to be...Jackson's Splish Splash 3rd Birthday Bash!

This year party planning was a little bit interesting...I wanted to do it in our backyard, but as of the beginning of May, we still weren't positive where that might be! Ha! Although we had a contract to close on the house, things were still very uncertain due to complications on our buyers side. On a leap of faith in mid May, I went ahead and created the invitations and mailed them to our nearest and dearest, as well as all of Jackson's friends at school.

Upon arriving at the house, guests were encouraged to pose in the awesome shark's mouth photobooth that Justin somehow managed to finish in all of his spare time. Can I take a minute to brag on my awesome hubby? He works so hard for our family and is amazing with a jigsaw and can of spray paint to boot!

The birthday boy thought the shark was pretty cool....

I made all the paper goods for the party including this welcome sign, banners, cupcake toppers, favor tags, etc. We used the simple "splash" image throughout and orange, lime and aqua which was so fun and bright.

We had snacks set up inside. We stuck to a simple menu of fruit, veggies, goldfish, pretzels, cheese and crackers. A huge thanks to my mom, dad and Melody who were on chopping duty.

I used Jackson's year pictures to decorate...I still can't believe that our baby boy is 3!

I saw this backdrop on Pinterest and it was perfect! Lots of impact without a lot of cost. And a huge thanks to Marc, Alison and Matt for making it happen and to Nana and G-Paw for all of their hot air!

Cupcakes from good ol HEB rounded out this menu and they were delicious!

The favors were all lined up for the guests to take home at the end of the party.
Favors were a shovel and pail, goldfish crackers, a water gun, Nemo Fruit Snacks, bubbles and a couple of suckers. The babies at the party got the baby buckets with a few sea creature squirt toys.

We had a lot of people at the house before the guests even started arriving. Jackson had an awesome weekend with all of his grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Clockwise from top left: 1) Cousins Breelie, Annabelle, Kyndra and Jackson, 2) Nana and her grandbabies, 3) Nana and G-Paw, 4) Kyndra, 5) Precious Andrew

Clockwise from top left: 1) Matt our fabulous photographer, 2) Breelie rescuing Matt from the jaws of this viscious shark, 3) Marc, Alison, Breelie and Annabelle, 4) Grammy and Pop, and 5) Josh, Melody, Tristan and Evie

And then Jackson's friends began to arrive!

Clockwise from top left: 1) Libby, 2) Jackson and his bestie Jillian, 3) Christen, Jake & Cole, 4) Clark, and 5) Abby

But as much fun as the photobooth was, the party was in the backyard. A multitude of pools and water toys of every shape and size were set up and the kids (and adults) were ready to have a splish splashing good time!

Stay tuned for all of the party fun!

Birthday Day and Father's Day

Sunday was a big day! We got to celebrate Jackson's birthday and Father's Day all on one day. Poor Justin has never had a "normal" Father's Day. In 2010, we had a 4 day old baby, had only been home from the hospital for one day and had lots of family in town to meet the new arrival. In 2011, we were driving back from a family vacation in Destin. Last year I was in Alabama at a conference. And of course this year Justin shared his Father's Day with Jackson's birthday. Shared or not, it was a fun family day and I think both of our boys had a good day!

We started out the day with birthday presents!

I'm not sure where Jackson got the idea from, but he had decided he wanted a scooter. I wasn't aware that he had ever really noticed someone riding a scooter but apparently he had because whenever we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he replied with "a blue scooter" each and every time.

So a blue scooter it was!

He was so excited!

But he was even more excited about the little $6 Toy Story Jesse figurine. Ha! Figures...

Of course we had to go and try it out right away....

He caught on pretty quickly, although steering is going to take some practice.

After a little bit of breakfast, daddy got to open his Father's Day presents and cards. Jackson helped...

Andrew helped too...

Daddy has his hands full! But his heart is full too!

Daddy picked the lunch place, Freddy's, and then we went to the little water park, Adamson Lagoon.

There are two really big water slides and Jackson wanted to go on them so bad. Justin and Jackson trekked to the top only to find out that there is a minimum height limit of 42". Shouldn't things like that be at the bottom of the stairs? Oh well, we had a great time anyways!

We went home and the boys both took seriously epic naps and I got lots of housework and party prep done. After dinner, Jake, Christen and Cole came over for cupcakes with the birthday boy.
Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday dear Jackson! Happy birthday to you!

Make a wish buddy!

Happy Fathers Day to all of the daddies out there, especially to the two best daddies in the world! To my dad: thank you for showing me what an ideal husband and father should be and what I should look for in a man. And to my sweet hubby: thank you for being that man! I am a lucky lady indeed!
